National teacher certification program.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to the
national teacher certification
2
incentive; modifying program participation and
3
reimbursement levels; eliminating the delayed repeal of the
4
program; sunsetting rules as specified; and providing for
5
an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:
8
9 Section
1. W.S.
21-7-501(a)(intro) and (ii), (b), (c)
10 and by creating a new subsection (f)
is amended to read:
11
12 21-7-501. National certification
incentive;
13 reimbursement; consultants and mentors;
rulemaking
14 authority limited.

16 (a) The
professional teaching standards board shall
17 by rule establish a program under
which school districts

1 shall
reimburse no more than fifty (50) teachers and
2 certified or licensed service
providers employed by Wyoming
3
school districts the actual cost, not to
exceed two 4
thousand dollars ($2,000.00),
of receiving national
5
certification, not to exceed the national
certification fee
6 established by the national board for
professional teaching
7 standards for the applicable year
certification was
8 received, provided:
9
10 (ii) The teacher
or service provider, as
11 applicable, was successful in receiving his
national
12 certification; and
13
14 (b) Upon
verification by the professional teaching
15 standards board that national
certification is complete,
16 the district which employs the
teacher or service provider
17 shall subject
to the limit imposed under subsection (a) of
18 this section, reimburse the teacher or service provider for
19 the actual cost, not to exceed two thousand dollars 20
($2000.00), of obtaining
the national certification fee.

22 (c) A school
district may apply for an innovative
23 program grant under W.S. 21-22-106(a)(iii)
to recover

1 amounts reimbursed to
teachers and service providers under
2
subsection (b) of this section.

4 (f) Unless
specifically reauthorized by the
5 legislature prior to July 1, 2007,
rules and regulations
6 promulgated under subsection (a) of
this section prior to
7 July 1, 2007, shall on and after July
1, 2007, be null and
8 void and of no effect and shall not be
enforceable.

10 Section 2. W.S. 21-7-501(e) is repealed.

12 Section 3. This act is effective July 1, 2001.
