A BILL

 

for

 

 1  AN ACT relating to district courts; providing for
 2  additional district judges as specified; providing an
 3  appropriation and authorizing additional positions; and
 4  providing effective dates.

 5 

 6  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 7 

 8         Section 1.  W.S. 5-3-102(a) is amended to read:

 9 

10         5-3-102.  Number of judges; distribution among
11  districts; concurrent jurisdiction; judicial conference to
12  adopt rules.

13 

14         (a)  There shall be one (1) judge of the district
15  court in the fourth judicial district, and two (2) judges
16  of the district court in the first, second, third, fifth,
17  sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth judicial districts and

 1  three (3) judges of the district court in the first, third
 2  and seventh judicial districts. In the second judicial
 3  district, one (1) judge shall reside in Albany county and
 4  one (1) shall reside in Carbon county. In the third
 5  judicial district one (1) judge two (2) judges shall reside
 6  in Sweetwater county. In the ninth judicial district no
 7  more than one (1) judge shall reside in Fremont county. All
 8  district judges in the state shall have concurrent
 9  jurisdiction throughout the state and for purposes of
10  assignment, shall have concurrent jurisdiction throughout
11  the state with all circuit court judges.

13         Section 2.  2000 Wyoming Session Laws, Chapter 76, by
14  creating new sections 137 through 139 is amended to read:

28         (a)  Except as provided in subsection (b) of this
29  section, this act is effective immediately upon completion
30  of all acts necessary for a bill to become law as provided
31  by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution.

 1         (b)  Section 2 of this act is effective July 1, 2001,
 2  or as soon thereafter as suitable facilities become
 3  available at the respective court.
