Insurance-privacy regulations.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to
insurance; authorizing rules governing
2
the disclosure of financial and health information of
3
insurance consumers; specifying restrictions on rules;
4
sunsetting rules as specified; and providing for an
5
effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:
8
9 Section 1. W.S. 26-2-133 is created to read:
10
11 26-2-133. Disclosure of nonpublic
personal
12 information; rulemaking; rulemaking
authority limited.
13
14 (a) The
commissioner is authorized to adopt rules
15 necessary to govern the practices of
all persons licensed
16 under this code with respect to the
disclosure of nonpublic

financial and health information of insurance
2
consumers and customers. The rules shall prohibit the
3
disclosure of any nonpublic personal information contrary
4
to the provisions of title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
5
of 1999, P.L. 106-102.

7 (b) Unless
specifically reauthorized by the
8
legislature prior to July 1, 2007, rules and regulations
9
promulgated under subsection (a) of this section prior to
10 July 1, 2007, shall on and after
July 1, 2007, be null and
11 void and of no effect and shall not
be enforceable.
12
13 Section 2. This act is
effective immediately upon
14 completion of all acts necessary for
a bill to become law
15 as provided by Article 4, Section 8
of the Wyoming
16 Constitution.
