A BILL

 

for

 

 1  AN ACT relating to peace officers; expanding peace officer
 2  authority of state park rangers as specified; specifying
 3  that state park rangers and park superintendents are peace
 4  officers for purposes of the criminal code; and providing
 5  for an effective date.

 6 

 7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 8 

 9         Section 1.  W.S. 6-1-104(a)(vi) by creating a new
10  subparagraph (N) and 7-2-101(a)(iv)(G) are amended to read:

11 

12         6-1-104.  Definitions.

13 

14         (a)  As used in W.S. 6-1-101 through 6-10-203 unless
15  otherwise defined:

 1              (vi)  "Peace officer" includes the following
 2  officers assigned to duty in the state of Wyoming:

 3 

 4                   (N)  Any superintendent, assistant
 5  superintendent or park ranger of any state park or historic
 6  site who has qualified pursuant to W.S. 9-1-701 through
 7  9-1-707, when acting within the boundaries of the state
 8  park or historic site, or when responding to a request to
 9  assist other peace officers performing their official
10  duties.

12         7-2-101.  Definitions.

13 

14         (a)  As used in W.S. 7-2-101 through 7-2-105:

15 

16              (iv)  "Peace officer" means:

17 

18                   (G)  Any superintendent, assistant
19  superintendent or full-time park ranger of any state park
20  or historic site who has qualified pursuant to W.S. 9-1-701
21  through 9-1-707, when acting within the boundaries of the
22  state park or historic site, or when responding to a
23  request to assist other peace officers performing their
24  official duties;

 2         Section 2.  This act is effective immediately upon
 3  completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law
 4  as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming
 5  Constitution.
