AN ACT relating to
professions and occupations; specifying
medical acts
which may be performed by an advanced
practitioner of
nursing; and providing for an effective
date.
Be It Enacted
by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:
Section 1. W.S. 33-21-120(a)(i) is amended to read:
33-21-120. Definitions.
(a) As used in
this act:
(i) "Advanced
practitioner of nursing" means a
registered
professional nurse who performs advanced nursing
acts and who may
perform medical acts including prescribing
or providing
prepackaged medications, except schedule I and drugs as defined in W.S. 35-7-1013
schedule II through and 35-7-1014, in collaboration with a licensed
35-7-1016
or otherwise legally
authorized physician or dentist, in
such manner to assure
quality and appropriateness of
services rendered. The
advanced practitioner of nursing
performs such acts by
reason of postgraduate education and
additional nursing
preparation which provides for the
knowledge, judgment
and skill beyond that required of a
registered
professional nurse in paragraph (ix) of this
subsection, and who
has completed a nationally accredited
educational program
for preparation as an advanced
practitioner of
nursing or who has passed a national
certification
examination of a nationally recognized
accrediting agency
accepted by the board;
