FIFTY-SIXTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING

2001 GENERAL SESSION

 

 

 

 

AN ACT relating to public schools; requiring the state
superintendent to establish guidelines for the storage and
disposal of chemicals; accordingly requiring school
districts to implement safe storage and disposal standards;
and providing for an effective date.

 

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 

Section 1.  W.S. 21-2-202(a) by creating a new
paragraph (xxii) and 21-3-110(a) by creating a new
paragraph (xxii) are amended to read:

 

21-2-202.  Duties of the state superintendent.

 

(a)  In addition to any other duties assigned by law,
the state superintendent shall:

 

(xxii)  In consultation with the department of
environmental quality and school districts, establish
guidelines for school districts for the proper and safe
storage and disposal of toxic chemicals and other hazardous
substances used by schools in educational programs.

21-3-110.  Duties of boards of trustees.

 

(a)  The board of trustees in each school district
shall:

 

(xxii)  In accordance with guidelines established
by the state superintendent under W.S. 21-2-202(a)(xxii),
implement standards for the storage and disposal of toxic
chemicals and other hazardous substances used by schools
within the district for educational programs.

 

Section 2.  This act is effective July 1, 2001.
