Attorney general-senate confirmation.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to the
attorney general; requiring senate

confirmation of the attorney general; making conforming and
3 clarifying
amendments; and providing for an effective date.

5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:
6
7 Section
1. W.S. 9-1-601(a), 9-1-602 and 28-12-103 are
8
amended to read:

9-1-601. Appointment;
term; removal; special
11 assistant for legislative affairs; qualifications.
12
13 (a) The
attorney general of the state of Wyoming
14 shall be appointed by the governor with the advice and
15 consent
of the senate in accordance with W.S. 28-12-101
16 through
28-12-103 and may be removed by the
governor as
17 provided in W.S. 9-1-202.

2 9-1-602. Vacancy in office.

4 In
case of a vacancy in the office of attorney general the
5
governor shall appoint a qualified person to fill the
6 vacancy
in accordance with the provisions of W.S.
7 28-12-101(b).

9 28-12-103. Expiration date of appointees' terms.
10
11 Notwithstanding any other provision of law, effective July
12 1, 1979, after the expiration of the current
term of office
13 of each person appointed by the governor and
required to be
14 confirmed by the senate, the next term of
that office
15 expires on March 1 during the year of
regular expiration.
16 Thereafter, each term, as specified in this
section, and
17 each term of office on any board, commission
or committee
18 created by the laws of this state after July
1, 1979, and
19 for which senate confirmation is required,
expires on March
20 1 during the year of regular
expiration. Notwithstanding
21 the provisions of
this section, the term of an attorney
22 general serving
pursuant to W.S. 9-1-601(b) shall terminate
23 as provided by
that subsection.

1 Section 2. This act is effective immediately upon

completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law
3 as
provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming
4
Constitution.
