A BILL

1 AN ACT relating to peace
officers; amending the definition
2 of
peace officer to include investigators employed by
3 district
attorneys; and providing for an effective date.

5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

7 Section
1. W.S.
6-1-104(a)(vi) by creating a new
8
subparagraph (N) and 7-2-101(a)(iv) by creating a new
9
subparagraph (M) are amended to read:
10
11 6-1-104. Definitions.
12
13 (a) As used in
W.S. 6-1-101 through 6-10-203 unless
14 otherwise defined:

16 (vi) "Peace
officer" includes the following
17 officers assigned to duty in the state of
Wyoming:

2 (N) Any duly
authorized investigator
3 employed by a district attorney who
has qualified pursuant
4 to W.S. 9-1-701 through 9-1-708.

6 7-2-101. Definitions.

8 (a) As used in W.S. 7-2-101 through 7-2-105:

10 (iv) "Peace officer" means:
11
12 (M) Any duly authorized investigator
13 employed
by a district attorney who has qualified pursuant
14 to
W.S. 9-1-701 through 9-1-708.

16 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2001.
