State officials salary.

A BILL

 

for

 

 1  AN ACT relating to state officials' salaries; increasing
 2  the salaries for state elected officials; increasing the
 3  salaries for certain officials of the judicial branch
 4  including supreme court justices, district court judges,
 5  circuit court judges, and district attorneys; providing
 6  appropriations; providing for current salaries; and
 7  providing for an effective date.

 9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

10 

11         Section 1.  W.S. 5-1-110(a)(i) and 9-3-101(a)(i)
12  through (v) are amended to read:

13 

14         5-1-110.  Salaries of judges.

 1         (a)  Subject to constitutional and statutory
 2  provisions concerning when salaries can become effective,
 3  judges of the supreme court, district courts and circuit
 4  courts shall receive the following annual salaries which
 5  shall be paid in equal monthly installments on the last
 6  working day of the month:

 7 

 8              (i)  Supreme court justices shall receive an
 9  annual salary of ninety-three thousand dollars ($93,000.00)
10  one hundred twenty-three thousand dollars ($123,000.00);

11 

12         9-3-101.  Salaries; amount; date of payment.

13 

14         (a)  Salaries for clerk of the supreme court and
15  district court reporters shall be determined by the supreme
16  court as authorized by legislative appropriations. Subject
17  to constitutional limitations the following state officers
18  and members of the judiciary shall receive the salaries
19  indicated by the figures following their respective titles:

20 

21              (i)  Governor        $95,000.00$125,000.00

23              (ii)  Secretary of state   24  $77,000.00$105,000.00

 2              (iii)  State auditor       $77,000.00$105,000.00

 4              (iv)  State treasurer      $77,000.00$105,000.00

 6              (v)  Superintendent of public instruction
 7                                       $77,000.00$105,000.00

 9         Section 2.

11         (a)  Until such time as the salaries provided by
12  section 1 of this act become effective, the following
13  salary schedule shall apply:

14 

15              (i)  For the executive branch:

16 

17                   (A)  Governor $95,000.00

18 

19                   (B)  Secretary of state $77,000.00

20 

21                   (C)  State auditor $77,000.00

22 

23                   (D)  State treasurer $77,000.00

 1                   (E)  Superintendent of public instruction
 2  $77,000.00

 4              (ii)  For the judicial branch:

 5 

 6                   (A)  Supreme court justices $93,000.00

 7 

 8                   (B)  District court judges $83,700.00

 9 

10                   (C)  Circuit court judges $69,750.00

11 

12                   (D)  District attorneys $69,750.00

13 

14         Section 3.  One million two hundred seventy thousand
15  eight hundred dollars ($1,270,800.00) is appropriated from
16  the general fund to the supreme court to implement the
17  salary formula established under this act.

18 

19         Section 4.  This act is effective July 1, 2001.
