Schools-safe storage of chemicals.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to
public schools; requiring the state
2 superintendent
to establish guidelines for the storage and
3
disposal of chemicals; accordingly requiring school
4
districts to implement safe storage and disposal standards;
5 and
providing for an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

9 Section
1. W.S.
21-2-202(a) by creating a new
10 paragraph (xxii) and 21-3-110(a) by
creating a new
11 paragraph (xxii) are amended to
read:
12
13 21-2-202. Duties of the state superintendent.
14
15 (a) In addition
to any other duties assigned by law,
16 the state superintendent shall:

2 (xxii) In consultation
with the department of
3 environmental quality and school
districts, establish
4 guidelines for school districts for
the proper and safe
5 storage and disposal of toxic
chemicals and other hazardous
6 substances used by schools in
educational programs.

8 21-3-110. Duties of boards of trustees.
9
10 (a) The board
of trustees in each school district
11 shall:
12
13 (xxii) In accordance with guidelines established
14 by
the state superintendent under W.S. 21-2-202(a)(xxii),
15 implement
standards for the storage and disposal of toxic
16 chemicals
and other hazardous substances used in schools
17 within
the district.

19 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2001.
