Cities and towns property tax limit.

RESOLUTION proposing to increase the property tax
2 limit for revenues for cities and towns and
authorizing
3 additional increases upon a vote of the
people.

5 BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING,
6 two-thirds of all the
members of the two houses, voting
7 separately, concurring therein:

Section 1.
The following proposal to amend Wyoming
10 Constitution, Article 15, Section 6 is proposed for
11 submission to the electors of the State of Wyoming at the
12 next general election for approval or rejection to become
13 valid as a part of the Constitution if ratified by a
14 majority of the electors at the election:

16 Article 15, Section 6. City levies limited.

incorporated city or town shall levy a tax to exceed
2 eight fourteen (14) mills on the dollar in any one (1)
3 year, except for the payment of its public debt
and the
4 interest thereon. The fourteen (14) mill limitation
5 imposed by
this section may be increased to not more than
6 twenty
(20) mills on the dollar if the proposition to
7 increase
the limitation is submitted at a general election
8 to a vote
of the people of the city or town and approved by
9 a majority
of electors voting on the proposition. Elections
10 under this
section shall be conducted as provided by law.

Section 2. The Secretary of State shall endorsed the
13 following statement on the proposed amendment:

15 This amendment
would increase the maximum property tax for
16 city and town revenues from eight (8) to fourteen (14)
17 mills on the dollar. That limitation could be increased to
18 as much as twenty (20) mills for individual cities or towns
19 if the people of the city or town vote to approve the
20 higher limit. The approval would require a majority vote
21 of those voting on the proposition.
