A BILL

 

for

 

 1  AN ACT relating to population data for redistricting;
 2  providing for United States census population data to be
 3  used in redistricting the state; and providing for an
 4  effective date.

 5 

 6  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 7 

 8         Section 1.  In the event federal officials issue to
 9  the state of Wyoming two (2) sets of population data, one
10  (1) set wherein statistical sampling techniques have been
11  used to establish the population and one (1) set wherein
12  the traditional headcount has been used to establish the
13  population, then for purposes of redrawing the boundaries
14  of congressional, state senatorial and state representative
15  districts after the federal census in the year 2000, the
16  Wyoming legislature shall use population data supplied by

 1  the United States bureau of the census that have been used
 2  to apportion among the states the seats in the United
 3  States house of representatives.

 4 

 5         Section 2.  This act is effective immediately upon
 6  completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law
 7  as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming
 8  Constitution.
