A BILL

 

for

 

 1  AN ACT relating to insurance; authorizing rules governing
 2  the disclosure of financial and health information of
 3  insurance consumers; specifying restrictions on rules; and
 4  providing for an effective date.

 5 

 6  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 7 

 8         Section 1.  W.S. 26-2-133 is created to read:

 9 

10         26-2-133.  Disclosure of nonpublic personal
11  information; rulemaking.

12 

13  The commissioner is authorized to adopt rules necessary to
14  govern the practices of all persons licensed under this
15  code with respect to the disclosure of nonpublic personal
16  financial and health information of insurance consumers and

 1  customers.  The rules shall prohibit the disclosure of any
 2  nonpublic personal information contrary to the provisions
 3  of title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999, P.L. 106-
 4  102.  The rules shall be consistent with, but no less
 5  restrictive, than the provisions of the model regulation
 6  adopted on September 26, 2000, by the National Association
 7  of Insurance Commissioners entitled "Privacy of Consumer
 8  Financial and Health Information Regulation."

 9 

10         Section 2.  This act is effective immediately upon
11  completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law
12  as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming
13  Constitution.
