State high school graduation requirements.

A BILL

 1  AN ACT relating to public schools; modifying state high
 2  school graduation requirements as specified; and providing
 3  for an effective date.

 4 

 5  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 6 

 7         Section 1.  W.S. 21-2-304(a)(iii)(intro) is amended to
 8  read:

 9 

10         21-2-304.  Duties of the state board of education.

11 

12         (a)  The state board of education shall:

13 

14              (iii)  By rule and regulation and in consultation
15  and coordination with local school districts, prescribe
16  uniform student performance standards for the common core
17  of knowledge and the common core of skills specified under

 1  W.S. 21-9-101(b) and promulgate uniform standards for
 2  programs addressing the special needs of student
 3  populations specified under W.S. 21-9-101(c). Student
 4  performance standards prescribed under this paragraph shall
 5  include standards for Graduation from any high school
 6  within any school district of this state based upon
 7  performance or mastery of the common core of knowledge and
 8  common core of skills prescribed under W.S. 21-9-101(b).
 9  Graduation standards imposed under this paragraph shall
10  require the successful completion of the following
11  components, specified by this paragraph. Any school
12  district may expand the required high school graduation
13  components prescribed by this paragraph. At minimum, high
14  school graduation shall require the successful completion
15  of the following components, as evidenced by passing grades
16  or by the successful performance on the statewide
17  assessment administered pursuant to paragraph (a)(v) of
18  this section or on competency-based equivalency
19  examinations:

21         Section 2.  W.S. 21-2-304(a)(iv) is repealed.
