A BILL

 1  AN ACT relating to peace officers; expanding peace officer
 2  authority of state park rangers and park superintendents as
 3  specified; specifying that such persons are peace officers
 4  for purposes of the criminal code; and providing for an
 5  effective date.

 6 

 7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 8 

 9         Section 1.  W.S. 6-1-104(a)(vi) by creating a new
10  subparagraph (N) and 7-2-101(a)(iv)(G) are amended to read:

11 

12         6-1-104.  Definitions.

13 

14         (a)  As used in W.S. 6-1-101 through 6-10-203 unless
15  otherwise defined:

 1              (vi)  "Peace officer" includes the following
 2  officers assigned to duty in the state of Wyoming:

 3 

 4                   (N)  Any superintendent, assistant
 5  superintendent or park ranger of any state park or historic
 6  site who has qualified pursuant to W.S. 9-1-701 through
 7  9-1-707.

 9         7-2-101.  Definitions.

10 

11         (a)  As used in W.S. 7-2-101 through 7-2-105:

13              (iv)  "Peace officer" means:

14 

15                   (G)  Any superintendent, assistant
16  superintendent or full-time park ranger of any state park
17  or historic site who has qualified pursuant to W.S. 9-1-701
18  through 9-1-707;, when acting within the boundaries of the
19  state park or historic site, or when responding to a
20  request to assist other peace officers performing their
21  official duties;

 1         Section 2.  This act is effective immediately upon
 2  completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law
 3  as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming
 4  Constitution.
