Misdemeanor-length of probation.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to
crimes and offenses; authorizing

extended probation in certain misdemeanor cases; and
3 providing
for an effective date.

5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

7 Section
1. W.S.
7-13-302(a) by creating a new
8
paragraph (iii) is amended to read:
9
10 7-13-302. Placing person convicted on
probation;
11 suspension of imposition or execution of sentence;
12 imposition of fine.

14 (a) After
conviction or plea of guilty for any
15 offense, except crimes punishable by death
or life
16 imprisonment, and following entry of the
judgment of
17 conviction, the court may:

2 (iii) In the case of a
misdemeanor conviction
3 for which a term of imprisonment is
provided, the court may
4 place the defendant on probation for a
period of not more
5 than three (3) years when it appears
from the evidence in
6 the case that the defendant has
alcohol or controlled
7 substance abuse issues which need to
be addressed in order
8 to correct the defendant's criminal
behavior.

10 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2001.
