Management Council Meeting Summary (June 5, 2003)

The Management Council met in Laramie on June 5, 2003.  The Council received an update on progress made to address suggestions made at the April Council meeting to increase legislative involvement in the administrative rule process.  LSO staff provided an update on the hiring process for the two new research positions.  LSO received 45 applications for the position and is currently in the process of interviewing applicants, with the goal of having the new staff hired in July.  The University of Wyoming President gave a presentation to the Council on the draft Athletics Strategic Plan for the University.   

 

The Council met with a representative from the Attorney General’s Office to discuss reorganization of the Office and office space issues in the Capitol Building.  Council members also requested information on wolf management negotiations.  The Council resolved itself into Executive Session to discuss personnel issues, as well as North Platte and school finance litigation.  The Council received an update on the activities of joint interim committees and requests from Committees to study additional topics and to consider requests for additional funds to complete interim work.  The Council reconsidered its motion to reject the proposal to add uranium to the mineral tax incentive econometric model, but the Council did not pass the proposal.  The Council plans to meet again on August 18 and 19, 2003 in the Riverton area.
