Select Committee on Legislative Technology Meeting Summary (April 10, 2003)

The Select Committee on Legislative Technology met on April 10, 2003 via teleconference to begin to address legislative technology issues for the 2003 interim.  The Committee discussed policies related to the disposition of surplus legislative laptop computers and the Committee decided to retain some of the surplus laptop computers for intern and staff use and to send a number of the machines to Surplus Property.  The Committee discussed committee staff and intern access to the wireless network and the Intranet.  The Committee voted to allow intern access to the wireless network to obtain Internet access, but that access will not be provided to the Intranet.

The Committee discussed options for electronic presentation equipment in the chambers and in committee rooms.  The Committee voted to purchase a plasma screen to experiment with this format for electronic presentations in committee rooms and requested that LSO begin meeting with vendors on options for projection systems in the House chamber.  The Committee reviewed options for holding legislative committee meetings via electronic methods.  The Committee requested that Management Council modify the current website policy to expand the information available about legislators on the website to include a photograph and a brief biography.  The Committee will meet again on June 4, 2003 via videoconference, through the Wyoming Education Network, if possible, to continue to consider legislative technology issues.
