Joint Transportation Committee Meeting Summary (October 23-24, 2003)

The Joint Transportation and Highways Interim Committee met on October 23 and 24, 2003 in Cheyenne.  The Committee toured the Camp Guernsey facility and the Union Pacific Railroad facility.  The Committee will sponsor several pieces of legislation affecting veterans and the Military Department.  The Committee will sponsor several draft proposals regarding commercial vehicles and child safety restraints.  The Committee will consider whether to sponsor legislation related to public safety communications and towing of overweight vehicles.  The committee will also be considering sponsorship of draft legislation regarding an Emergency Response Act.  It is not anticipated the Committee will meet again until immediately before the 2004 Budget Session to consider the draft legislation that would establish the Emergency Response Act.
