Select Water Committee Meeting Summary (August 21-22, 2003)

The Select Water Committee met jointly with the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) in Saratoga on August 21-22, 2003.  The Committee and the Commission toured the High Savery Reservoir project on August 21, 2003.  The Water Development Office provided information on the status of the project.  On August 22, 2003, the Director of the Water Development Office provided a financial report on the water development accounts, noting that 40 percent of one account is going to other agencies and programs.  The Committee voted to send a letter to Governor Freudenthal requesting that general fund agencies be funded from the general fund and not from water development accounts.  The Committee approved three project planning documents.  The Committee received an update on three project contract amendments and three small water projects for WWDC approval.  The Director of the Water Development Office explained the current draft of the Water Development Program operating criteria.  A landowner addressed the Committee regarding an access agreement with the WWDC.  The Committee will meet again jointly with the WWDC sometime in November.
