Catch Title:       Body art-parental consent.

 

Subject:  Amends provision relating to tattooing of minors to include all forms of body-art.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

·        Current law prohibits tatooing of persons under the age of majority unless the person's parent or legal guardian consents. Violations are punished as a misdemeanor.

·        This bill:

 

·        Amends the definition of "tattoo" to a more encompassing definition of "body-art";

 

·        Defines "body-art" to include the practice of physical body adornment utilizing body piercing, branding, scarification, sculpting and tattooing;

 

·        Defines each of the above "body-art" practices;

 

·        Excludes practices of licensed medical physicians and piercing of the lobe of the ear by traditional means of stud-and-clasp ear piercing systems.
