Subject:  Creating a Wyoming main street program for revitalization of local business areas.

 

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        This bill creates a main street program in Wyoming to allow local business areas to receive assistance from the national main street program.  Among other things, the bill:

o                   Creates an advisory board to be staffed by the department of agriculture (department) to assist the department in developing a plan to implement a main street program in Wyoming;

o                   Provides duties of the advisory board, including annual reviews of the program reported to the governor and reports to the joint minerals committee;

o                   Authorizes the department to implement a main street program, including entering into contracts, accepting funds, administering a revolving loan account and coordinating efforts between local, state and federal agencies;

o                   Authorizes the department to establish a pilot program of five municipalities to begin the work of the main street program.

 

Comments:

 

·                                                                                This bill requires reports to be made to the joint minerals, business and economic development interim committee if a pilot program is created, with updates to be made on the extended program thereafter.
