Catch Title:       Speeding violation records.

 

Subject:  Modifies speed limit violations that are subject to reporting requirements and driver license suspensions.

 

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Under current law, speeding violations over specified speed limits are considered by the Department of Transportation for purposes of driver license suspensions and are also maintained as part of the Department's records and abstracts.

 

·        This bill modifies the speed limit violations that are not subject to Department reporting requirements and driver license suspensions as follows:

 

·        Speeding violations up to 80 miles per hour where the speed limit is at least 65 miles per hour;

 

·        Violations of less than 6 miles per hour over the posted speed limit in all other instances, except for violations of speed limits in school or construction zones;

 

·        For purposes of the Department's records and abstracts, violations of the posted speed limits while operating a commercial vehicle shall be maintained.
