Subject:  Authorizing specified persons to release trapped animals and prohibiting interference with lawful trapping.

 

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Specifies that landowners and their agents may release wildlife from traps and snares if the wildlife has been taken unlawfully.

 

·        Criminalizes actions of tampering with or removing traps and snares lawfully set, or releasing furbearers or predators from traps and snares lawfully set.

 

·        The criminal penalty is a seventh degree misdemeanor (up to a $600 fine and six months in jail).
