Catch Title: Child endangerment-controlled substances.
Subject: Establishes a crime for causing or permitting a child to ingest or to be present where methamphetamine is or has been stored.
Summary/Major Elements:
· Under current law, it is a crime for a parent, guardian or custodian of a child to distribute any drug prohibited by law to a child without a physician's prescription, with a penalty of imprisonment for not more than 1 year, a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both. A second conviction could result in a penalty of imprisonment for not more than 5 years, a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both.
· This bill establishes a crime for causing or permitting a child to ingest or to be present where methamphetamine is or has been stored, with a penalty of imprisonment for not more than 5 years, a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both.
