Subject:  Conforms provisions to reflect that duties of justice of the peace and county courts are now performed by circuit courts.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Under current law, justice of the peace courts and county courts are still referenced, but no longer exist as a result of court reorganization in year 2000.

 

·        This bill:

 

·        Amends existing references to justice of the peace and county courts to reflect that circuit courts now perform the functions of those nonexistent courts;

 

·        Amends other archaic references to courts that no longer exist;

 

·        Repeals obsolete provisions.
