Catch Title: Air taxi service-repeal.
Subject: Repeals obsolete provisions relating to the Aeronautics Division of the Department of Transportation.
Summary/Major Elements:
· Under current law, the Aeronautics Division is responsible for:
· Certifying air taxi service providers in the State; and
· Administering air search and rescue programs in the State.
· This act repeals the requirement that air taxi service providers obtain certification from the Aeronautics Division and the Division's authority to administer air search and rescue programs.
Comments:
· A companion bill, House Bill 143, was also enacted into law, authorizing the Military Department to coordinate air search and rescue programs in the State at the request, and under the supervision, of a county sheriff.
