Catch Title: Elected officials-legal representation.
Subject: Representation of elected state officials.
Summary/Major Elements:
· Authorizes the secretary of state, state auditor, state treasurer and state superintendent of public instruction to retain legal counsel to review contracts and to perform other duties assigned by the elected official. Attorney General approval of these retained attorneys is not required.
· Requires the Attorney General to review contracts submitted to his Office for review within 30 days of submission.
· The current law requiring Attorney General review of state contracts (including those of the elected officials) remains in place.
