Catch Title:     Educational services-juvenile placements.

 

Subject:  Provision of educational services for court ordered placements.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Authorizes payment under the Wyoming Medical Assistance and Services Act (state Medicaid provisions) for educational services for court ordered placements of children in private treatment facilities and group homes.

 

·        Requires providers to bill the department of health prior to billing the department of education for the services.

 

·        Requires the department of education to account for and track court ordered placements and identifies specific items to be tracked and reported upon.

 

·        Provides appropriations for the study specified and appropriations to the department of health and the department of education for services for court ordered placements.

 

·        Authorizes two additional full-time positions to the department of education.

 

Comments:

· Report Required – requires the department of education in consultation with the legislative service office to track specified information relating to court ordered placements and to report to the appropriations and education committees by December 1, 2004.

· Creates major program – authorizes payments for court ordered placements under the Wyoming Medical Assistance and Services Act.
