A joint meeting of the Select Water Committee and the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) was held on June 2, 2005. The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. The order of the meeting generally followed the prepared agenda, Appendix 2. The purpose of the meeting for the Select Water Committee was to begin its approved interim work including the oversight and approval of certain water project documents.
Mr. Mike Besson, Director of the Wyoming Water Development Office (WWDO) explained the role of the Select Water Committee in its oversight of water development projects and its relationship to the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC).
Mr. Besson explained the following contract amendment which was approved by the Committee:
Following explanation by Mr. Besson, the Committee approved the following planning division contract documents:
· WY State Geological Survey MOU – Southern Powder River Basin Interactive Geohydrologic GIS Database
· Weather Modification 5-Year Pilot Program (Evaluation), Level II
· Weather Modification 5-Year Pilot Program (Operations), Level II;
· Weather Modification Feasibility Salt River & Wyoming Ranges, Level II
Framework Water Plan, Level I – Mike Besson explained the contract. Following discussion, Senator Vasey moved the Committee approve the contract. The motion passed. The WWDC did not approve the contract. Following discussion, the WWDC voted to begin the bidding process over for the contract.
Water Retreat: Mr. Besson announced there will be a Water Retreat at the Sundance Bear Lodge on July 14 and 15, 2005. He would like a minimum of 4 Committee members to attend. CoChairmen Anderson and Geis indicated Senators Geis and Vasey, and Representatives Petersen and Semlek would likely attend.
Mr. Besson announced the next meeting will be held August 24 through 26, 2005 including a water tour on August 24. The meeting will probably be held in Rock Springs.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2 p.m.
