A joint meeting of the Select Water Committee and
the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) was held on June 9, 2006. The meeting was called to order at 8:30
a.m. The order of the meeting generally
followed the prepared agenda, Appendix 2.
The purpose of the meeting for the Select Water Committee was to begin
its approved interim work including the oversight and approval of certain water
project documents.
Senator Vasey moved the minutes of the March 9, 2006 meeting of the Select Water Committee be approved. The motion passed.
Following explanation by Mr. Besson, the Committee approved the following planning division contract documents:

Mr.
Besson also explained the High Savery Telemetry & Scada System Support
Services contract which does not need Committee approval.
Following
discussion, Representative Anderson moved that the Committee approve the
contracts. The motion passed.
Mr. Besson then explained and provided updates on the following topics: small hydroelectric projects, Belvoir Ranch water study, Bridger Valley reservoir, tribal water and weather modification.
Mr. Steve Gray, the new state climatologist, indicated the state is currently in a "watch" drought status based on soil moisture, vegetation, snow pack stream flow and availability of surface water. Mr. Gray will update the drought conditions later this month.
Mr. Besson announced the next meeting will be held August 24 and 25, 2006 including a water tour on August 24. The meeting will be held in Cody.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
