FISCAL NOTE

This bill contains an appropriation of $1,936,000 from the GENERAL FUND.

Discussion of Appropriation

Increased salary allowances for the full-time county and prosecuting attorneys and each of their full-time assistant attorneys would increase annual non-administrative expenditures by $2,029,000.  This increase would be offset by the elimination of office expense reimbursements currently limited to $93,000 per year.

Assumptions

It is assumed that both Niobrara and Weston counties would appoint full-time county and prosecuting attorneys effective July 1, 2007.

It is also assumed that on average, assistant county and prosecuting attorneys are paid $60,000 per year, and that the number of assistant attorneys will not increase during the period in question (i.e., July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010).
