Veterans' mental health appropriations.

FISCAL NOTE

 

This bill contains an appropriation of $848,000 from the GENERAL FUND.

 

 

Assumptions:   It is estimated that 5,100 veterans, including their families, are in need of mental health and substance abuse services. 

 

Section 1.  (i) Two contractors will provide advocacy and surveillance assessments for this population to include case management.  Direct services to the client is estimated at $300,000; travel costs estimated at $80,000; office supplies, training, miscellaneous expenses estimated at $60,000;  

 

(ii) screening costs at  $40 each for 1,700 returning service members - $68,000;

 

(iii) funding to offset travel, childcare, etc., and enable families to access appropriate resources for 5,100 clients- $250,000; 

 

(iv) up to eight trainings to health care providers in five regions ($5,000 each) on war related injuries and illness to ensure the use of best practices in Wyoming - $40,000; 

 

(v)  up to ten trainings to provide reintegration training for community leaders and employers to improve the transition for veterans -$50,000. Funding to cover state and national speaker fees and travel expenses.
