· The act:

o Allows the secretary of state to transmit a certified list of candidates to county clerks rather than sending a written certification.

o Requires voters to provide a full legal name at the time of registration.

o Allows for voter registration in public areas rather than buildings and removes the requirement that notice be placed on the front door of a public building.

o Removes filing fees for candidates for special district directors, school district trustees and community college trustees.

o Provides for placement of names on partisan general election ballots and lists the order of names on nonpartisan ballots.

o Provides for approval of the county clerk for election judges filling vacancies.

o Removes requirement that county attorneys conduct training schools for election judges.

o Removes language referring to paper ballots.

o Provides procedure for opening ballot boxes during an election.
