Subject:           Amendments to the Licensing Act for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

·         This act:

 

·    Amends the scope of the Speech Pathologists and Audiologists Licensing Act to cover those persons practicing speech pathology and audiology in Wyoming from outside of Wyoming by electronic means;

 

·    Authorizes speech pathologists and audiologists licensed in other states to provide consultation services in Wyoming;

 

·    Requires a doctor of audiology or master's degree for new license applicants effective July 1, 2012;

 

·    Authorizes a 12-month provisional license, renewable once for 12 months, to an applicant performing a clinical fellowship year in Wyoming under the supervision of a licensed speech pathologist or audiologist;

 

·    Increases maximum fines for violation of the Act from $100 to $750;

 

·    Authorizes the Board of Speech Pathologists and Audiologists to set the fee for late license renewals, and requires renewal applicants to include proof of compliance with continuing education requirements;

 

·    Repeals authorization of temporary unlicensed practice.
