AN ACT relating to the board of dental examiners; providing for compensation for travel time; providing for signing of vouchers by a designee; specifying examinations required of dentists; repealing limitation on timing of application after failure of an examination; providing grace period for renewal of dental licenses; providing for passage of an examination for dental hygienist licensees; and providing for an effective date.

"(a)  Any person of good moral character, who has  graduated and attained the degree of doctor of dental surgery or doctor of dental medicine from a college or university in the United States or Canada accredited by the commission on dental accreditation of the American Dental Association, may apply to the board to have the applicant's qualifications considered for licensure to practice dentistry. The applicant shall pass a written and practical examination in a manner satisfactory to the board. The written examination shall consist of part I and part II of the national board of dental examinations administered by the joint commission on national dental examinations of the American Dental Association and an examination on the Wyoming Dental Practice Act and the rules and regulations of the board of dental examiners. The clinical practical examination shall be based on satisfactory completion of a clinical examination acceptable to the board.".

Page 5-line 2                 Delete, insert and renumber:

"Section 3.  Any dentist who had a license cancelled on or after January 1, 2009 and prior to the effective date of this act solely because the dentist failed to submit a renewal application as required in W.S. 33-15-109(a) may apply for a temporary probationary license.  The board of dental examiners may issue a probationary license to each qualified applicant who applies as provided in this section prior to June 30, 2009.  A probationary license issued under this section shall expire December 31, 2009.  If the board determines that a dentist with a probationary license has complied with all applicable statutes and rules and regulations of the board and is otherwise qualified for a license as a dentist, the board may restore the dentist's license on January 1, 2010.

Section 4.

(a)  Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, this act is effective July 1, 2009.

(b)  Section 3 of this act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution.".  SCOTT, CHAIRMAN
