Installation of signs in chain up areas
Assumptions:
Signs
The fiscal impact of installing signs in chain up areas is estimated at $24,000, if the Department of Transportation uses folding signs at a cost of $2,000 per site for the I-80 locations, South Pass and Teton Pass.
Chain Up Areas
Installation of chain up areas (places for vehicles to put on and take off chains) on both ends of each of the I-80 locations (Sisters, Bitter Creek Hill, Summit, Elk Mountain) would cost approximately $1 million per location or $8 million in total. South Pass and Teton Pass currently have locations that can be used as chain up areas.
