FISCAL NOTE

Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) of the General Fund appropriation to the Transportation Commission, provided during the 2008 Budget Session (SF 0001 Section 2, Sec. 045 shall be deposited into the subaccount created by W.S. 37-10-106(b). These funds shall only be for fiscal year 2010.  Additionally, the Department of Transportation shall include in their budget request for the 2011-2012 biennium continued funding at the same level as above from funds in the Abandoned Mine Land Funds Reserve Account.

Discussion:

FY 2010 funding would come from the current General Fund appropriation to the Department of Transportation.   However, the General Funds appropriated ($200,000,000) to the Department have already been allocated and would decrease funding from Department of Transportation’s existing planned projects.

FY2011 & FY2012 funding will come from the Abandoned Mine Land Funds Reserve Account.

Counties will be required to match funding based on language included in this bill and additionally will be required to fund $30,000  annually for maintenance service costs where the railroad quiet zones are installed.
