NON-ADMINISTRATIVE IMPACT

Anticipated Revenue Increase:

HIGHWAY FUND

60,000

60,000

60,000

Source of Revenue Increase: Cost for a client to get an ignition interlock restricted license, at $15/renewal.

Assumptions: The language in the law “shall” will increase by 8 fold the current number of ignition interlock restricted licenses.  Each individual will need to pay a fee ($15/renewal) for this license.

The fiscal impact to the Department of Corrections is indeterminable due to an unknown number of cases, but anticipated to be very low.

Source of Expenditure Increase: The expansion of criminal offenses punishable by misdemeanant probation creates a potential cost for that supervision.  The cost for traditional supervision of a probationer is approximately $1,100 per year, while the cost of supervision for a probationer under the intensive supervision program is approximately $7,300 per year.  Few misdemeanant offenders are currently under supervision.

Assumptions: Though there are no current measures that would allow for an accurate prediction of the number of individuals sentenced pursuant to the proposed legislation, it is assumed that the actual number of individuals sentenced would be low.  The cost to the Department could be significantly higher should probation agents be required to supervise compliance with the proposed legislation.
