Subject:  Transfers "Serve Wyoming" from the Department of Workforce Services to the Office of the Governor.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

·         Under current law, Serve Wyoming, originally known as the Commission for National and Community Service, operates under the Department of Workforce Services.

·         This bill:

o        Repeals a prior transfer of Serve Wyoming (under 2002 Wyo. Sess. Laws, Chap. 100) from the Department of Health to the Department of Workforce Services;

o        Transfers the program from the Department of Workforce Services to the Office of the Governor;

o        Specifies membership in, and duties of, the organization;

o        Provides definitions;

o        Specifies the function of the program is to implement the purposes of the National and Community Service Act of 1990;

o        Repeals the law that authorized the 2002 transfer of the program;

o        Appropriates funds from the general fund to the Governor's Office to fund the administrative costs associated with the program;

o        Provides that any appointments to Serve Wyoming prior to the effective date of this act shall continue for the period of the appointment and may be renewed as provided in this act.
