Subject:  Authorizes a Western State Energy and Environment Symposium as specified.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

·         This bill:

o        Authorizes a Western State Energy and Environment Symposium;

o        Establishes a Symposium Steering Committee comprised of legislators and representatives of the various private sector interested groups to develop plans for the Symposium which shall be held no later than November 1, 2010;

o        Authorizes the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources (UW) to conduct the Symposium at the direction of the Steering Committee and to solicit public and private funding and participation for the Symposium;

o        Specifies the goals of the Symposium to develop a high level cost/benefit analysis assessing the challenges of energy development, production, marketing, use and environmental impact within the western states;

o        Requires a report no later than 45 days after the symposium to legislatures, governors and congressional delegation of participating states and to participants;

o        Specifies the Symposium may be held in Wyoming or any other participating state;

o        Appropriates funding for the Symposium to UW and LSO to facilitate participation by the various states in the Symposium
