Summary/Major Elements:

· Under current law a person may register to vote not less than thirty days before an election.  The act changes that time period to not less than fourteen days prior to an election after January 1, 2011.

· The act specifies that, in addition to currently available methods for absentee voting, a person may vote by absentee ballot if the application is made in person during the closed period and the voter simultaneously votes at the clerk's office or the absentee polling place.
