Catch Title:       Snow plows-emergency lights.

Subject:  Authorizing the Department of Transportation to specify by rule the color of lights that may be used on Department snow plows.

Summary/Major Elements:

· Under current law, snow plows used by the Department of Transportation are required to be equipped with at least one red lamp visible from 500 feet in front of the vehicle and may be equipped with one or more blue, white or amber lights.

· This bill authorizes the Department of Transportation to adopt rules specifying the color of lights a Department snow plow may be equipped with, to allow more conspicuous colors for visibility during inclement weather.
