This bill contains an appropriation of $2,000,000 from the GENERAL FUND to the Attorney General’s Office.  This appropriation is effective immediately.

Discussion of Appropriation:

Estimating the cost of participating in potential litigation is difficult.  The $2,000,000 appears to be a sufficient amount.  The Attorney General’s Office anticipates that most of the costs would fall into the 900 series, i.e. cost sharing with other states, retention contracts for local attorneys, deposition costs, expert witness costs, etc.  The 200 series costs would essentially consist of travel expenses.
