Source of Expenditure Decrease:
Circuit courts spend approximately $13,000 per fiscal year to secure surety bonds for all of the circuit judges and circuit court magistrates. Since judges and magistrates do not handle money transactions the surety bonds serve no purpose.
Assumptions:
If the statutes identified in the proposed bill are repealed, the circuit courts budget will no longer have the $13,000/year expenditure. The State of Wyoming Risk Management office has advised the Supreme Court that judges and magistrates are covered (insured) just as other State employees.
