Chapter No.:       129

Prime Sponsor:     Management Council

Catch Title:       Obsolete laws-general revisions.

Subject:  General revision of obsolete statutes and corrections of statutes.

Summary/Major Elements:

This act is part of a multi-year process to clean-up statutes which have been ruled unconstitutional, had sunset dates which have been reached but still appear in the published statutes, contain incorrect citations or are otherwise archaic.

The act is akin to the revisor's bill but contains changes to statutes which are more than purely technical corrections, as noted above.

The act also amends statutes which have been interpreted by courts in a manner which makes certain provisions obsolete, though not necessarily unconstitutional.

Archaic references repealed or amended by the act are those which refer to entities which no longer exist or have been renamed.

The act eliminates delayed effective dates or 'grandfathering' provisions which have been fully implemented.

The act also updates statutory cross references to acts that have had sections added or deleted.

The act amends the authority of the legislative service office, in compiling and printing statutes, to delete obsolete or fully executed date references.
