Summary/Major Elements:

 

       Provides that impersonation of a person by electronic means, including the internet or by “spoofing”, is a misdemeanor crime that is punishable by a fine up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) and imprisonment up to one (1) year. 

 

       Provides that a person may seek civil action against a person that violates the provisions of the act, including seeking compensatory damages, injunctive relief or other equitable relief.
