Summary/Major Elements:

● Vacancies on a board of county commissioners are filled according to the political affiliation of the vacating commissioner. 

● Under current law, if the vacating commissioner was unaffiliated, his seat could be filled by any qualified person selected by the remaining commissioners.

● This act amends the procedure by requiring that the vacancy be advertised and that the replacement commissioner be selected from among those qualified persons who submit an application.
