Summary/Major Elements:
● Local governments have historically been required to conduct extensive engineering studies before being authorized to change default speed limits on local roadways.
● This bill allows local governments to alter speed limits pursuant to rules adopted by the Wyoming Department of Transportation;
● Extends the default 30 m.p.h. speed limit to residential districts and subdivisions, except roads designated as private roads pursuant to W.S. 18-5-306(a)(vii);
● Establishes a default of 65 m.p.h. for all paved roadways and 55 m.p.h. for all unpaved roadways not otherwise covered.
