Catch Title:       State parks-temporary peace officers.

Subject:       Temporary peace officers at state parks.

Summary/Major Elements:

● This act authorizes the department of state parks and cultural resources to enter into memoranda of understanding with any other agency or governing body employing peace officers to have those peace officers perform law enforcement duties within the jurisdiction of the department. 

● The memoranda of understanding must specify:

● The term of the assignment;

● The peace officers covered by the assignment;

● A general description of the geographical boundaries of the territory covered by the assignment; and

● The responsibilities of the department and the agency or governing body for costs and expenses relating to the assignment.

● This act does not authorize the department to enter into such agreements to hire brand inspectors or livestock investigators, arson investigators or board of outfitters' investigators.
